Neils drummin on Driven

If there are any rush fans out there I hope you are all going to see them at the bowl or at verizon. Can't go wrong with this band. Have you all heard the song driven from test for echo. At one part of the song it sounds like neil is pushing his stick into the hi hat to much and holding the pedal down way to hard and choking the cymbal. But at th same time also he lets up on the pedal just making havok on a constant hi hat sound. hard to describe but it just kills the tune at least for me. I llove neil peart to death and have every recording and every book he has put out. Masked Rider, Ghost Rider, ect. Some one just needs to show him how to loosen up cause it sticks out like a sore thumb. Yes I know. Who needs to show him anything at this age that it even matters. Just want to know if anyone can hear it. Vapor Trails is just noisy and the cymbal work is just not there. Switching to sally billy and andy is just whatever. One word Money. Zidjian is his voice and always will be. come on 30 years, why switch.

I thought his playing on vapor Trails was a helluva lot better than his playing on T4E.

Much more energetic.

But Neil's mroe or less a big concert drummer.

On that part of the tune, he is hitting his remote hi-hats (14") so therefore he is not closing them with his foot. They are not tensioned really tight so he is getting a really sloshy sound out of them.

I think it sounds kinda cool and gives it a different effect.
